EAPOSYS and SwissDGS have been awarded a grant from the SIG Fonds Vitale Innovation to assess the costs, performance and market potential of Advanced Geothermal Systems (AGS) in Switzerland.
The funded study will focus on pre-engineering, cost estimation and thermodynamic performance of a first medium-depth AGS “kick-starter” installation, tailored to Swiss geological contexts. The project aims to de-risk AGS deployment and demonstrate its feasibility using existing, proven drilling technologies, with a strong focus on safe and controlled implementation, while delivering reliable, low-carbon baseload heat and electricity co-generation at community scale.
This support marks an important milestone in accelerating the rollout of next-generation geothermal solutions for Switzerland’s energy transition.
