Taking our AGS vision to industry
In November 2023, EAPOSYS joined the Geothermal Transition Summit Europe in Berlin, bringing together geothermal developers, oil & gas expertise, technology providers, policymakers and investors around the challenge of scaling geothermal in Europe.
For EAPOSYS, it was an important milestone: the first time we presented our vision for Advanced Geothermal Systems to a broad technical and industrial audience.
Our CEO Naomi Vouillamoz presented our approach to closed-loop geothermal and its potential to expand geothermal beyond conventional hydrothermal resources — producing heat and power without hydraulic fracturing and increasingly engineering systems around local geology and energy demand.
From oil & gas expertise to geothermal energy
A central theme of the summit was the transfer of oil & gas technologies and expertise to geothermal. Deep drilling, complex well construction, materials and subsurface engineering are all capabilities that can be redirected toward a different resource: not hydrocarbons, but heat.
Making geothermal predictable and scalable
In the European Geothermal Transition Outlook published around the summit, EAPOSYS Co-Founder Patrick Scherrer contributed EAPOSYS’ perspective on the European geothermal market, highlighting the need to accelerate technology adoption through full-scale reference sites, shared engineering knowledge and industry collaboration.
At the summit, we also presented EAPOLAB, our Open Lab initiative designed to bring industry, research, government and finance together around full-scale AGS reference projects.
Berlin marked the moment when our AGS architecture and EAPOLAB deployment approach moved beyond internal development: we were taking them to industry.
