From Research to Projects: SFOE Geothermal Workshop
On 11 September, Naomi Vouillamoz, CEO of EAPOSYS, presented together with SwissDGS at the Geothermal Workshop organised in Ittigen by the Swiss Federal Office of Energy (SFOE). The SFOE is the federal authority responsible for Switzerland’s energy policy and energy supply, and supports energy research and innovation as part of the country’s energy transition.
The workshop brought together nearly 80 participants from research, industry and public authorities to connect research advances with the concrete needs of geothermal projects. EAPOSYS contributed to the session dedicated to next-generation geothermal technologies, presenting its modular closed-loop Advanced Geothermal System (AGS).
From first heat to scalable geothermal energy
The presentation highlighted how closed-loop AGS sharply reduces geological uncertainty and seismic risk, while providing a natural source of local and reliable heat.
EAPOSYS modular design allows projects to start small, learn by doing and scale progressively as experience and demand grow.
The analysis also showed that financing matters as much as drilling: long-term, low-cost financing can significantly improve the affordability of geothermal heat.
This underpins EAPOSYS’ strategy: de-risk, deploy, learn and scale, combining technology development with the right financing to make AGS bankable and affordable.
A warm thank you to the SFOE for organizing this workshop and bringing together the geothermal community to connect research, innovation and real project needs.
